Transient Thermography Testing in Water Leak Detection
This test is applicable to bridge deck membranes where there is a risk of failure in the waterproofing membrane due to heavy tracking. For that reason it is essential to ensure that the membrane has not de-bonded from the concrete prior to asphalting. If it has, the entrapped air will expand to form a blister under the heat of the asphalt. As this cools, it sets to the shape of the blister, in the process creating a weak point in the waterproofing.
For this reason, it can sometimes be essential to determine the bonding of the membrane. We have developed a test using infra red technology, details of which are available on request.
